Lens question(Ole?)

Post by gari » Sun Sep 10, 2006 9:41 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

I have a Carl Zeiss Jena lens I want to put an adaptor ring on but I cannot find one that fits, I have tried a 39mm, too big, and a 37, too small!
As I couldn't find one I then went on a search to see what I could find out about the lens, nothing, lots of almost hits as it were but nothing on this lens, so does anyone know a source of info or have some idea what I have here?
I have tried the LF forum's lens resource bye the way so thats out..

The lens is a 135 f4.5 Tessar on a F Deckel Compur shutter. The closest hit I got when I put the complete description in was an enlarger lens, if I put the lens number in I get nothing.
here's hoping

Gari,

You could try this page as a guide to some of the filter threads out there. Unfortunately, it doesn't give the thread pitches as there's subtle differences around the M39 size (possibly 0.75 and 1.0 mm pitches etc so they aren't interchangeable.)

SRB in Luton have every thread adaptor under the sun....or at least they can make one up to order.

Maybe you can send the lens down to them?

Since I have a LOT of old lenses of every possible thread, and some without threads at all, I've given up the whole thing and bought a Lee Gel-Snap to let me use filters on anything (except the HUGE portrait lenses).

Thanks for the replies folks, I shall see what SRB can come up with.
Ole, can the gel-snap be used with grads as that is what I use most with color?

Gari, no. The gel-snap just snaps closed on gel filters, there's no "slide" option.

Maybe I should try modifying it to hold the "standard" Lee filter holder? Hmmm...
