Some help with sheet film **UPDATED**

Post by sapata » Tue Feb 16, 2010 8:11 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Maybe not a large format related question but maybe you guys can help me...

Last Christmas I gave myself this nice Voigtlander 6.5 x 9.0cm plate camera that I’ve been meaning to use since. I tried to buy the roll film back on ebay but no lucky so far ( by the way if anyone have one to sell I’m quite interested in buying..)

In the mean time I was told that I could get some sheet film and use with the plate holders so I bought this pack with 25 sheets and I’m intending to use them somehow. I heard few people using honey to glue the film into a cardboard in order to fit ... has anyone tried this film before that could share the experience ?

Many thanks !

I hope to have time on my next trip back to the UK to have some film inserts made, I ran out of time last year. While mine will be for 9x12 plate holders the principles the same.

I'll let you know how I get on. It's possible to just stick the film to black card using something like Prit, which should wash off easily, but you'd need to experiment.

Thanks Ian...
Sorry if I'm being stupid but when youn say that will wash easily you mean putting the film and the card together inside the tank ? Won't the card desintegrate ? cheers...

I meant peel them apart before processing, but test with some scrap negatives first.

hiya mauricio

i have a rollfilm holder for the older slide fit backs that i use on a 6x9 plaubel peco junior at times. a friend has it at the moment but you are welcome to borrow it if you want to shoot some 120? i'm in crystal palace so not far away. if it is the slide fit i think they are called rada backs.

cheers

Thanks John ! It's very kind of you...

Since I bought the film I want to have a go with it, but I'll consider your offer for the future...specially after the winter.

I'll post some results as soon as I have...

Finally after a long time I managed get some pictures taken and here are the results.
Wepotha film 100ISO processed with Rodinal 1:100 1hour stand development, the sheets were glued with honey and It was very hard to get the picture in level because the film is slightly smaller than the board, I didn't clean the dust as well...

The most funny thing is that after all the "hassle" using the dark slides, today I found the Rollex film back at the Portobello Rd Mkt by chance !!! ( the base a bit bigger but nothing that a DIY can't solve...)

I'm sorry again, I know this is not a large format camera but I just wanted to update you guys that were so helpful...

Many thanks !
