150mm f2.8 Xenotar?

Post by Peter B » Fri Feb 26, 2010 10:09 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

One of these has popped up for sale on the auction site at the link below. The seller seems to have his own style as a salesman, but don't let that put you off! The real reason for posting, however, is to get a feel for whether folks have tried LF lenses with big apertures and if they are good to work with? I guess they would be prohibitively expensive new, but also that dof might well be an issue for focusing, although I'm assuming it would be stopped right down as usual for taking the shot.

I suppose I should point out that I'm not thinking of buying this, in fact even the postage scares me off!

I would be worried that it would cause my ground glass to melt in daylight conditions. 8)

I'll have two of them.

I'm amazed it's only mounted in a Compur 3 and not an old Compur 4 shutter! It even makes Schneider's fine art XXL lenses look inexpensive! For that money you could buy a kennel in Martha's Vineyard. ;)
Love is an Ebony mounted with a Cooke PS945.......
