Does anyone have any info on how well (or otherwise) the metal Canham cameras function in use? They look well specced on 'paper'. Thanks.

Friend has a 10x8...

Dennis,
general consensus on Canham cameras (esp. the metal ones) on various forums (fori?) is that they are well designed, specced and built. I unfortunately haven't seen one life, so I can't comment much better, but you might try to do a search on www.largeformatphotography.info which has a larger user base than we have here. Folks there are generally quite helpful and Ihave seen quite a few positive comments regarding Canhams.

ah, the good old neuter plural but is it nominative or dative case? :?

Ablative surely, as there is no movement with regard to location. Therefore foris. Unless you wish to use a preposition followed by the dative or accusative. Excuse the tetratrichotomy.

Could somebody please translate all this grammatical gobbledygook into something a bear of little brain could understand ?

Carter! Pay attention at the back! This is a quality forum - you're no longer apud APUGem.

Hmmm tetratrichotomy eh? I had an uncle who had one of those. Very painful by all accounts.

Tetra - four

Trichotomy - a three way dichotomy

So does that mean 12 choices, 43 choices, or just a word that cannot be found in Wikipedia :?:

Oh, and I could find apud but not apugem :?

Hello Dennis,

Robert White often has a Canham metal camera in stock. Have you spoken to them? Maybe they are not too far away from you?

I have a Canham but it is wooden.

Barry
