Ektar 100 in 5x4 available in the UK yet?

Post by David Rees » Fri May 14, 2010 9:24 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Kodak announced that this film (wonderful in 120 format) would be available in April, but I've not found a shop in the UK selling it. Has anyone found a shop selling it here as yet?

Hi Dave - Ive tried Silverprint, AG photographic and Speed Graphic. Nobody has any in stock. Two of the people Ive spoken to both say its been delayed - just as was the launch of the 120 version apparently. The bloke that runs AG Photographic says he will add to their website as soon as its available.

There's a single box available on Amazon.uk....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/1x10-Kodak-Prof ... 131&sr=8-4

But I think it would probably cost less buying several boxes from Germany....

The Maco price works out at £34.63 or £3.46 a sheet plus shipping plus processing. I can't help seeing this as something closer to £5 a sheet with processing, and even then that's for a negative rather than a transparency! Maybe the dealers just have worries that they'll be left with stocks on the shelf?

Maco Direct is a bit steep to my mind, at £34.85 + P&P (@1.1716euro to the £1). Given that B&H have it at £16.17 ($23.50, @$1.4535 to the £1), someone is making an excessive profit along the supply chain to Germany! Even discounting 19% VAT (Germany), it is still well over the top. I have no objection to supporting shops in the UK and Europe, but I do draw the line at what seems to be excessive pricing.

Guess I'll have to wait for prices to drop as suppies begin to hit the UK.

Thanks for all the replies, folks!

Hmm - I dont really wanna buy several boxes initially - Maco has a sneaky minimum order so it would deffo have to be multiple boxes - "MINIMUM_PURCHASE 49,50EUR".

Hi Tim - when you say er postage - presumably thats all - ie you didn't get stung for import duty/vat/ post office charging you to collect tax etc etc ?? which are all the hidden costs of personal import. If that's 'normal' for that vendor (or you were lucky :-) ) then I may just grab some...

regards Tim....

Oops... should have included the £3.90 per box VAT/Import and the £8 per shipment rip off fee (i.e. handling fee)

So - final price... 18.90 per box + £36 shipping... for 5 boxes it cost me £26 per box

Tim

p.s. It appears that this is actually cheaper to buy than film in the UK (portra being about £29 for a box of 10 before delivery)

It's available. I forgot to order a box with my last order from ag. Is this a negative to replace provia?
I reach for Provia when I feel that Pro160 needs turning up to 11.
I'm a negative kind of guy.
