Tempered Water Supply for Jobo
Just a quick question. I have a Jobo mixing panel for my new ATL and am having a problem finding out how it works..
I'm also getting cold water feeding back into the hot water supply (gravity fed hot water) and am wondering if I need a check valve and what type of check valve? (the Jobo has a valve on the incoming cold side which is adjustable with a screwdriver but I'm presuming this is just a pressure regulator rather). I've ordered a simple check valve and a pressure regulator which I'm hoping will fix things..
I'm wondering if you are supposed to have the drain flowing during operation of the machine (in order to ensure a constant temperature flow)?
A colleague is also asking about whether he needs a tempered water supply for an ATL1500 (I'm presuming they can work from just a cold supply?)

Not intended but I can see what you mean I am quite happy with how it's all gone in (apart from the buckets of water coming through the ceiling)..
Picked up a Howtek Scanmaster 4500 yesterday too - looking forward to getting the whole workflow working smoothly...

Tim,
In the Jobo ATL-2x00 series machines, the tempered supply is used for warm water that gets pumped into the film developing tank (e.g. E6 film washing). The water bath is kept at temperature by an internal 1000W heater, i.e. starts off cold and gradually reaches the correct process temperature.

I'm pretty sure you're missing a big dial with a red zone and the word 'DANGER' there, Tim.

I'll let you know what happens once I plumb in my check valve and pressure regulator..

Re: Tempered Water Supply for Jobo
Tim,
You need to make sure that water is pumped through to the raised trough situated below the film development tank. This pumping action is performed by the external motor on the rear of the machine. My ATL-2300 uses an external 12V supply for the motor as the Jobo electronics in my machine don't power the motor due to a fault.
