Hi all.

Anyone use 400 colour neg film in 5x4? Can it still be got OK?

I bought some Portra 400NC a couple of months ago. But I screwed up all 10 sheets due to a camera error and decided that colour negs look horrible and are a pita to scan and get colour balanced anyway.

But if you want colour and need the speed ...

I think the choice of emulsions comprises of: Kodak 400NC. I shot 20 rolls on 6x9 recently and was very happy with the results. Slightly more grain (than 160) on a drum scan but I would certainly not hesitate to use it 5x4. AG Photographic have it but if you're planning on shooting a lot of it I'd import it from the us as I think you can still get it in 50 sheet boxes. Tristan

You can get Portra 400nc from Calumet as well. There is usually a box or 2 in the fridge at the one here in Liverpool.
Agree with Tristan there, its a decent film, grain isn't to bad considering.

Thanks all. Looks like portra 400nc then. I dare say it's a good indoors type film.
