Kerry Thalmann lens sale

Post by Peter B » Sat Oct 16, 2010 10:10 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

If you haven't been on the US LF site since yesterday, Kerry Thalmann has announced that he is having a clearout of his LF lens collection. I don't know if this is US only or if he would be prepared to post to the UK, but it's a fair bet that every one will be a cracker! The list is apparently only the beginning, but also read the post on the LF website to see what he DOESN'T have. (you may not be able to see that if you're not a member)

Why would one person own so many lenses? Or is he a collector?

He's big(!) in LF circles and a contributor to View Camera Magazine. His Future Classics article on LF lenses is a pretty well regarded reference.

He acquired lenses while writing articles and conducting lens tests along with Chris Perez, he also deals in ULF equipment. I doubt he'll have trouble selling the lenses, those that I know prices for were mainly very reasonable, it's a good job I need no more :D

BTW he trades as http://reallybigcameras.com/

He's now added another set of lenses: Computars, APO Kyvytar and Graphic-Kowas

Expect to pay around 30% extra for import duty, VAT, and fees.

Just a quick update for anyone thinking of picking up one of these...

I grabbed one of his lenses listed as Mint and it's like new. I only really knew of Kerry from his website -- he's been great to deal with and even the box is like new, plus it came will all the original paperwork.

Import duty etc. does push the price up, but certainly worth considering for some of the harder to find lenses... It took ten days to arrive btw.
