I wish to sell my current Schneider 120mm Apo lens in order to put the money towards buying a secondhand Super-Symmar 110XL lens. Could anyone here give me an idea of what I should ask for it? I bought it new a couple of years ago.

I've seen a couple used recently in the $900 to $1200 range. I bought mine used a couple years back now and did not pay anywhere that amount as I recall. Usually my limit has been no more then $600 on used lenses over the years. I will say it's an excellent lens and I use it a lot.
Good luck with the overall sale, Thingy.

I bought a Schneider 120mm f5.6 APO L (the latest version, with the 189mm image circle) 2nd-hand from Ffordes, about 5 years ago. I paid £295 for it, in mint condition. It is an excellent lens, and I've used it a lot -- it is probsbly my most-used lens for landscape work on 5x4. I also love how small and light it is, with 52mm filter thread. It was the only lens I had which could stay on my WIsta 5x4 DX when folded -- making for quicker setup when the light was changing. I won't be selling mine unless and until I give up LF.

I guess the obvious question is 'why change ?' Such a small difference in focal length, not a huge gain in other respects and loadsa money down the toilet....

Many of the schneider 80mm & 110mm lenses are suffering from the problem that they suffer from so buying s/h could be a real lottery unless heavily discounted.

I wish to change as the XL lens, with its large image circle, offers considerably greater vertical and horizonal shift than the Apo L lens. My 120mm is my standard lens and the 110 XL will replace it. I need the extra latitude for architectural work, plus I preder the flexibility it offers for landscape work.
