The Boat That Guy Built

Did anyone else watch the last episode of this rather amusing series? Guy Martin, a world-class motorcycle racer, took off around the country in an old barge, together with his best friend, Mave. The aim was to celebrate the best bits of the Industrial Revolution, so they visited various heritage sites around the country to have a go at creating some iconic items from Britain's industrial past - Wedgewood cups, Sheffield steel cutlery, etc.

In the last episode, which will be repeated on Saturday, they held a party at Newark, and to show off the work they'd undertaken to make the narrow-boat, Reckless, habitable, they had their photos taken by a large format camera with calotype negatives.

Well worth a look.

And Guy has proper Victorian sideburns too.
