For drying 4x5 film I've been using film clips which are not really satisfactory since they tend to either crimp the film or encroach too much on the image area. It occurs to me that a single-hole punch might be the answer in combination with bent paper clips, but I can only find ones which punch a 6 mm dia hole which is a bit large. Does anyone out there know of a punch that punches a smaller hole, say 2 mm? Thanks. Dennis.

This is going to sound terribly old fashioned, but I just peg them up with a normal wooden or plastic clothes peg, on a clothes drier. Or outside on the line if I need them in a hurry. I've only had to chase a neg around the garden once, and it seemed to enjoy the experience!

It eats about 5mm or less of one corner, if you're careful.

I use a device called Helping Hands ( I have 4) - available on ebay for about £3 / £4 it has a weighted base and an arm with crocodile clips I put then on the mantlepiece with the film clipped on the diagonal and hanging over the edge to drip on newspaper on the floor (I live on my own so that doesn't matter!) I find that my room temperature, it's normally just under 70 degrees and the film dries in around 2 hours. This works with 10 x 8 film and probably 5 x 7 as well.

I use some small ones of these, pilfered from various drawers around the house and at work, and then you can hang them on hooks, thread them onto a wire rod, or whatever.

Try finding Paterson or Jobo film clips. They use small needles that pierce the film rather than crimp it.

Cheap and cheerful small crocodile clips off ebay, perfect and are small enough not to damage the film.

Some/many/all Fuji films have a hole in one corner and you thread them onto something to dry. MIne was a number of open safety pins on a string or similar and it works very well!
