Film Changing tent advice

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and indeed 5x4, having not actually taken delivery of the camera yet. I am in the process of getting together a 5x4 system including a couple of lens and the other paraphernalia that one needs. With this in mind I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight into film changing tents. I have looked on the internet and only managed to find one brand. Are there any other brands? Are they the best option or can anyone recommend an alternative?

Many Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

I bought mine from Calumet last Saturday and I paid £45 for it. It's quite compact and it does what it's supposed to very well. Hope this helps.

Depends which brand you found.
Personally, I like the Calumet Changing Room but last time I recommended it, the person didn't really like it.
There are also options like the Harrison Pup but they are more expensive.

Another vote for the calumet one, easy to use.

Hi again

Thanks for the replies. It was the Harrison that I'd seen and was hoping that there'd be an alternative a little cheaper, so the Calumet tent seems ideal.

Thanks for the help, will order one today.

Ian

I rate the calumet one, for the money its a no-brainer. The only thing to be aware of is the position of the armholes makes it hard to use if you're sat at a desk, but easy to use if say you're stood up using it at a kitchen worktop, or sat with it on the floor. Otherwise its a winner.

Hi
Sorry I am late on this topic.
I own a Harrison and a Calumet changing tent. I find If you are loading 10x8 DDs or trying to load a sheet film Jobo tank, the extra room and quality of the Harrison is worth the extra money.
If loading smaller format DDs and roll films the Calumet is fine.
