Shen Hao - used market

Post by Julian Elliott » Fri Oct 28, 2011 8:49 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Evening all

I know this is basically a "how long is a piece of string" question.

How often do Shen Hao's come up for sale and what sort of price for a used 5x4 camera?

Thanks :D

Hi

I think there have been 2 or 3 on this forum this year. I try not to watch the auction site - too many temptations...

I may well sell my folder (HZX45? certainly looks like one) in about a month.
I've got another camera coming, but I can't make my mind up!

Ian

Hmm. May have to think on that one. I'm hedging towards the non-folding one.

Anyone else offer any info on prices?

How about places to buy apart from here or on Ebay? I know of Robert White, Teamwork, Ffordes or Peter Walnes being likely candidates for anything used.

I recently sold my non-folding TFC on ebay. It had some damage to the woodwork but still got just shy of 400 notes for it if that helps you.

The shen hao non-folders cameras aren't very common though, so I think your chances of picking one up from Ffordes etc second hand are slim to non-existent. I've certainly never seen one come up second hand in the last few years on any of those second hand sites, hence why I ended up getting mine new (well, ex-display) from robert white 2.5 years ago.

I bought a new Shen Hao recently after waiting for a used one to appear - and it didn't. At the end I got the body from this eBay seller based in North West London and a lens from Mr Cad in Croydon. I went to see the latter the other week and he had one Shen Hao up for sale for around the £600-700 mark I think.

I recently sold a Shen Hao TZ45IIa for £499 and a FCL810a for £1499 through Ffordes. Both sold within days of appearing on their website.
The 5x4 has been replaced with a Chamonix 045n which I consider to be better suited to the wide angle lenses that I prefer to use as well as coping well with those up to 300mm. Obviously not as good as an Ebony but one cannot have everything. :)
Regards
Dave

There's one on eBay at the moment and finishing on Saturday afternoon. The bidding looks a bit strange as it appears that someone has put in several bids above the £350 that's currently showing, but it's a list of private bidders. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SHEN-HAO-PREC ... 4cfb8639ec

A heads up for Ian - Zoikes, his Shen Hao is in the classifieds right now, it'll sell very quickly (may have done already).

I bought a printer off him 10 days ago and his prices, descriptions etc are very fair and accurate, I'm extremely happy with my printer. I'd have paid more via ebay and the same goes for his Shen Hao.

Gone already! That's OK though. I'm not quite in a position to do anything about it yet. Firstly, I need to get back over to the UK next week and sort out some cash!
