Autumn colours in the North of England

Post by Julian Elliott » Sun Nov 13, 2011 7:29 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Evening all

In the week starting 21 November, I'll be going on a roadtrip up to the North of the UK.

Can anyone that lives in the following areas tell me how the trees are doing with their leaves?

North York Moors
Lake District
Yorkshire Dales

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

North York Moors:
The moors themselves don't have many trees and the weather is colder and quite windy there. I haven't been this autumn but I guess the trees in villages will have lost a lot of their foliage. The woods should be alright though. I know there are still areas with decent colour coming off the moors, going to the coast. I imagine that in a week, you'll be shooting a lot of freshly fallen leaves - which do have their attraction. Drop me a pm if you need guidance (or want to meet up).
Best regards,
Charles

Thanks Charles!

Reluctantly, I have to decline meeting up. When I'm there I'll be doing something for one of the mags over in the UK.

I'm hoping to go around places like Roseberry Topping and Sutton Bank. Of course, it all depends on the weather!

Julian,
I live at the southern end of the North York Moors and there are stil a lot of beech trees around with wonderful colour , and lovely rich colours in the hedgerows. But there are also a lot of bare trees....

Cool! Thanks Alan :D

Hopefully, when I arrive next week I will be rewarded with some colours. I don't mind some bare trees too. It is all part of the landscape and it is after all what I do!

Julian,
I forgot about the larch trees. Lots of these around Sutton Bank and they had fantastic colour when I was over that way last Thursday. Likely to keep their colour for awhile, I think.
Good luck!
