Raw Chemicals

Hello,

here I am with another question for you: is it worth buying raw chemicals instead of the commercially available developers, fixers and so on? I'm a chemist, so I don't mind working with smelly chemicals. I'm asking this question for a twofold reason:
  1. Raw chemicals could be cheaper.
  2. Buying raw chemicals could attract the attention of the Police.
I know point 2 sounds a bit paranoid, but I don't fancy the idea of the Police knocking on my door, asking why I bought such and such chemicals, on suspicion I'm some crazy terrorist...

Cheers,

Val

People buy and make up their own concoctions all the time so I wouldn't worry about it... if you were buying a couple of tons of weed killer or a few gallons of sodium peroxide then a visit from the authorities is probably on the cards. I think the most popular outlets for raw chemicals is Silverprint.

A friend of mine Peter Hogan sells his formulations world wide, indeed one of his regular customers buys his popular alkaline fixer and has it sent to South America... to my knowledge the only person to actually export white powder to Columbia!

Cool, I'll have a look at Silverprint website then. It's quite close to where I work, so I can pop over during lunch break.
