Not quite the end of a perfect day

As I sit here, by the light of a paraffin lamp, using my mobile phone to connect to the internet, I just thought I would reflect on what should have been a good day for making photographs.
We started out this morning going over to one of our favourite haunts on the western edge of Yorkshire, where we actually managed to make two images (hopefully). Returning to our customary tea shop, we discovered that they were in the middle of a power cut and only just managed to get a scone and cup of coffee, made with the last of the hot water in the heater.
Never mind, we would see if there was another shot on the way home... until we went out of the tea shop to find the fog had descended
Nevertheless, we drove home anticipating a welcome hot drink and to cook our evening meal... only to find, we too, were (are) having a power cut of our very own
