A survey from Ferrania of Italy. They want to re-start film production and would like to ask some questions. I got the link from Silverprint.

This sounds like good news; however a quick look at the "news" section reveals that the last post is dated July 27, 2013, more than one year ago.

Hence, news could be better, actually.

Although the folks involved with the start up of Ferrania were working hard all the time, they did not originally do a good job of updating their followers. That has all changed recently. They've actually had some web and pod casts. Additionally, they've got a Kickstarter going to save a critical piece of equipment required for larger production then they first anticipated they'd need. That Kickstarter is doing extremely well too. Here is a link to the information which includes a video on their need to relocate the larger machine.

Emmanuel, there is much more news, actually.

Besides the kickstarter already mentioned,
this video gives some insights:

On the kickstarter page, there's also a roadmap:

Thanks for the update!

So, news are good; by the time the kickstater project has reached 91% of the goal.

Well, the only thing is that in order to reach the minimum area of 100 square centimeters required on this forum, we'll have to use a 6x17 film back with 120 rollfim, since 5x4" film is not yet part of the Ferrania project. But if 135 and 120 film sell as expected, why not ?

Hi,

yeah, already backed with 4x 120 film ... at least usable in my 6x12cm roll film back ;-)

In the meantime, they've posted an article about the history of the current/new Ferrania Project:

Quite interesting read, they also show some pictures of the devices in the factories.

Best regards,
Martin

Thanks, Martin!

The idea of having another European source of E-6 colour slides is really attractive.
I do have tested some 120 rolls of ROLLEI-CR-200 alias Agfa Aviphot chrome, but there was probably a problem with the batch I had, since the film needed to be filtered wih a KB-3 blue colour-correction filter to compensate for a yellow cast. So before making another test with Rollei-CR-200,
I would be hignly interesting ready to experiment with any "new" kind of E-6 slide film that could appear on the market!
And if this film is made in Europe, I'll be euro-patriotic as usual ;)

At the time when I write this message, Ferrania's kickstater project has reached 94% of the funding goal.
So we have good hope to see this film marketed again next year.

Indeed, Emmanuel!

Also it's good to know that there is be a supplier of color transparency film,
who even thinks in periods of times like "next 100 years",
as this medium is really something special in my opinion.

The grain level of RMS 13 is not so much state-of-the-art,
but perhaps a good incentive to do more 8x10" instead of 4x5" ;-)

Best regards,
Martin

For those following the Ferrania updates they have published the "Founders Wall List" as mentioned as being a part of the Kickstarter program at the time. So, if you're one of the Kickstarter donators you can review the list for your name....
If you use "ctrl F" to search the page be sure to type in the exact way you requested the listing. I found mine only after adding my middle initial.... :D
