Scanner
The earlier post re an Epson scanner producing odd results strikes a chord. I have an elderly Epson 4990 scanner which works perfectly with my equally elderly iMac, but produces only very dark, useless scans with my current MacBook. I am pretty sure this is down to Epson not having software which works with the Apple current OSX 'Sierra'. I'll investigate Vuescan, unless any one has a better idea? Thanks. Dennis.

Re: Scanner
Hi Dennis
I have just seen you post about the scanner. My issue seemed to be happening with Vuescan as well unfortunately so I think it must be the hardware in my case? I am concerned to hear you don't think Epson Scan works with the new OSX 'Sierra,'!? We run number of of v750's and v850's currently using 'El Capitan' at work. I hope they keep working once we upgrade to, 'Sierra'!!?
Let me know how your getting on with it
All the best
Chris

Re: Scanner
Chris,
Just seen your post. My version of Epson Scan is incompatible with Sierra, too old, & Epson suggest using Mac's Image Capture, but this does not work either since I believe it is incompatible with the 4990 scanner! So it appears that I am stuck with keeping a 17" iMac just to use the scanner. The scans are fine, but I then have to transfer to MacBook via Bluetooth which is time consuming to say the least when big scans are involved. Best wishes, Dennis.

You should find the driver for macOS Sierra for the Epson 4990 at http://esupport.epson-europe.com/FileDe ... &id=326073

Re: Scanner
Thank you Joanna, but I cannot translate French to English. Did you get it in English? Dennis.

Re: Scanner
Sorry, I didn't notice the page was in French. In fact, the driver is multi-lingual but here's the UK page for the same file

Just got back home from a week based in Landrake; wow the traffic over there is crazy compared with here in Brittany !

Re: Scanner
Thanks, but I have just found the same address. The only problem is - it has so far refused to complete the download. I wonder why???
I'll try again after switching everything off & giving it a rest . . .Dennis.

Re: Scanner
Joanna,
Thank you for your last post to Ian.
After a lot of messing about I have at last managed to download the Epson scanner app which allows me to scan from the 4990 scanner to my MacBook! Epson HELP appear to not know this. Dennis.
