15 x 12 format

Post by dennis » Sun Mar 23, 2008 12:28 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Is anyone out there currently using 15 x 12 inch format? What lenses are available; at what cost? Film availability? Film holders? Is it a feasible format with regard to rigidity of set up, weight etc? Any comments welcomed. Dennis.

No, but I occasionally use 16x12" - or 30x40cm, to be absolutely correct. My camera is a Soviet copy of a German Reisekamera-type kind of thing, and the only holders which fit are the two I got with the camera.

As for lenses there are really only three alternatives: New Schneider Fine-Art XXL lenses, or former repro lenses, or something really old.

I use a 210mm Angulon (well stopped down), a 500mm Krauss/Zeiss Tessar (brass), or a 640mm Suter aplanat (ditto - or even more so). I haven't tried the 360mm f:5.6 Symmar yet, but it should just cover.

Could be worth talking to Geert at http://sheetfilm.be/film.ph
He dosn't show that size as stock, but worth a call even so.
