Soliciting opinions on a website...

Post by masch » Sun Apr 20, 2008 9:35 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Hi All,

I need to ask a favour....

I've just spent a moderately enjoyable afternoon putting together a website for my photographs and I would like some opinions about it....

If your time permits, can you divert your browsers to:
http://homepage.mac.com/mjjs/Photography/
and have a quick look around. Any constructive criticism welcome :)

I know it's slow, but that is mostly because it is currently on .mac
I thought since I have the account, I can use it to play about before I actually buy some hosting, domain name, etc.

Hi Marc
I think the site looks good. You could add a little more detail of where the shots were taken. I am still trying to set up a site so am not really qualified to make any further comment except to say - well done.

Nice looking site. Tasteful, restrained greys and I like the blue highlight menus.

Two things I noted with a quick look - in What's Up you have several options bunched together at the bottom right (personal...). This doesn't look quite right, WIP? Secondly, I don't understand the significance of the Hasselblad picture, you haven't used one anywhere. Or have I missed something?

Some of your photographs are quite beautiful.

Thanks for your comments :)
The 'Blad picture is there as a placeholder until I have a decent image of a 5x4 or so to go on the front... Currently it is there as a "generic" camera. Misleading, I agree, but I think it needed an image on the front page. It looked very boring w/o one.

The multiple options on the bottom ights in the "What's up" page are there to categories the different news posts coming in. I simply stuck with the default categories. Needs correcting,I agree...
