I have seen the recent posts re Ansel Adams but wonder if any of you have seen the Walker Evans show which is touring from the Hayward. I caught up with it in Hexham last week but it has now moved on. I know it is going to York sometime and if you keep your eyes open it might come close to you.
The work is from his FSA and Now let us praise famous men stuff. They are modern 10x8s struck from the original negative and there are more than 50 of them. If you like LF documentary you can't afford to miss it.
Another show from the Hayward worth seeing is the No such thing as Society exhibition currently in Carlisle but also touring. This has so many famous names its not true and includes a good selection of LF and MF work.
Finally think about the Art in the Age of Steam at the Walker in Liverpool. This has real LF work! There are some O Winston Locks but thats just 5x4 the Carlton Watkins are 24x20 now thats large format.
And last and probably least there is my own show that I have just posted about in the projects forum

Age of steam
The Walker is the huge Gallery in the city centre not far from the St Johns shopping centre. This is part of the city of culture stuff. I went at about 3:30 on a Wednesday before a talk at Open Eye and thought I would have plenty of time to see it. I was thrown out at 5pm when it shut there is loads to see if you like modern art ie impressionists futurists etc which ate being shown alongside the photos.
