dng format cameraback

The new Sinar 65 cameraback uses dng format internally giving a platform independent cameraback.

This looks like the way forward with a non-proprietry format which looks like becoming the tiff of the future

It`s probably more of interest to professional photographers than to the average amateur photo-hobbyist. I suspect that most folks here use a 4x5 or larger film format Camera and shoot with either colour reversal or B&W negative films.

Hi Keith,
Im sure your right but just in case I think it might be of general interest where the top end professional market is going because of the standards it sets which gives the way forward and in this case that may effect decisions on file formats for example that you may have a choice about. I believe in the benefits of free distribution of technical information and am motivated to support that. I am privilidged to enjoy the contributions from others and like to give some pay-back when I can.

Well, I found the link quite interesting. It's just a shame the back can't be used with a view-camera. Not that I could afford one, anyway....

If you read through the PDF document it states that it can be used with a 5x4 camera with the Hassleblad V adaptor. If the cost came down by £9K I might be interested!
