Leach Colour no longer processing film

I have just come across a post in the US groups that state (and I have verified) that Leach Colour will be transferring all their film processing to One Vison Imaging in Coventry.

One Vision will not be processing LF sheet film so I, for one, will be moving to Peak.

Thats a shame, lets hope Peak have enough business to keep the current price levels. We can at least be thankful that if the industry does consolidate into one or two processing labs that in Peak we have somewhere that does a good job for the price.

Weird thing was the Leach announcement came through on an RSS feed within a few minutes of me reading the thread on the LF forum...

I have just posted the following in the US forum and thought it might be of interest here as well. Someone said they used to use BPD Photech and this prompted me to write:

BPD do not do their own E6 processing; they farm it out. They used to use Pro2Col in Manchester until they closed, then they used Leach.

But when I phoned them today, they said that they were now using MPS in Liverpool.

Now I don't know what the quality is like at MPS now but, about three or four years ago, I had a very bad experience with them when they fogged six unrepeatable shots. At that time, they were not processing E6 regularly and were having to start the machine when they got any film in, God knows what the soup was like, having been left for, possibly, days between sessions.

Since I only live about 25 mile from MPS, I will go in to them on Monday and see if things have changed; I will report back next week.

Hi all

I've used Loxley Colour in Glasgow for years now - First Class service & quality (even before I moved from down south in Hampshire)

Try them ( they have a web site)

I use PEAK imaging for my development. Has anybody had any problems with them (they have been OK for me so far).

I've used Peak for quite a few years now and have only had one 120 roll back that had some scratches on... other than that I have only praise for them.

Hello All,
As I have mentioned before, I use NPS Media in Middlesbrough. Although not the cheapest, they are extremely reliable and put a lot of care in making sure the "soup" is 100% OK. I have been using them a few years now and have no complaints.
Best regards,
Charles

My local lab when I'm in the UK farms out E6 to a Birmingham Lab, last time I heard they were running E6 twice a week, but they seem to have closed recently.

E6 has become very low volume now, and fewer labs are doing it and the same goes for all LF processing. It's a niche market now.

Yep - there are fewer and fewer labs around but let's hope that by a process of attrition we get left with the good quality ones! I've used http://www.the-darkroom.co.ukThe Darkroom UK Ltd for a some years. Their E6 is run every day so their postal service is pretty quick and I see David Ward is one of their customers.
