Question about attaching lens to lensboard

I have a bit of a numpty question to ask... I have just bought a very nice Schneider 240mm f9 G-Claron and am trying to attach it to the lens panel. When I attempt to tighten the rear retaining ring with the wrench I cannot move the aperture ring at the front, it seems as though there should be something to create a small space between the front of the panel and the aperture ring enabling it to move freely. Have looked at one of my other lenses and there's a small pin creating a gap. There doesn't seem to be one on this lens. Am I just tightening the ring too much? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Best regards

Paul

The pin is just a locating pin to keep the lens orientated on some boards. It isn't normal to need a spacer if the board's cut to the right size. None of my lenses has one.

You might be over tightening, or the hole is oversize so your pinching the aperture control.

Paul cut a cardboard washer just smaller than the fixed circular section that is inside the aperture mechanism on the base of the lens between the lens and the lensboard and that should give enough clearance.
