Sean, have you got your own website, or an account at Flickr or something? If so, you can post them there and link to them.Sean Lewis wrote:I too have some Dungeness images to post, I haven't figured out how to get them onto the site yet

Very nice work, I like the long shot over the beach.Sean Lewis wrote:Thanks Joanna, I'll look in to it in more detail tomorrow. In the meantime, if you want to see them just click on my website button down there in the corner and nip into the Kent gallery
But, after a quick skim through your galleries, I have to say that my personal favourite has to be "Bystander, Gavarnie National Park" from the French collection. There are shots of water and cotton wool and then there is this one

Just visit Robert White or Teamwork (my mistake ) and ask to handle an Ebony. Stroke it, sniff those bellows, twiddle the sleek, elegant aluminium knobs, feel the silky smoothness of the titanium....Peter B wrote:Thanks for that Paul, but I think your 1 bad point may well be the deciding factor for me!
Sell your partner on ebay and use the proceeds to buy what will become the love of your life. You just know it makes sense!
Love is an Ebony mounted with a Cooke PS945.......
I went to Ffordes on Monday to see their SW45, and did indeed twiddle with it. Under close observation by a keen salesman, I felt unable to sniff the bellows however! I can see the attraction of owning something that oozes quality and is so easy to set up, but I had made a firm pact with myself not to buy on the day.Thingy wrote: Just visit Robert White or Teamwork (my mistake ) and ask to handle an Ebony. We did get as far as discussing a possible trade-in, but only in general terms and not in actual figures. He told me it was unlikely to be available for long, and I readily accept that as being the case. It may indeed already be gone, although it is still showing on their website as I type, but if not I will probably go back for another look tomorrow and may just take one (or more!) items for a possible trade-in. Hmmm .........

Before you talk about trading in, look at selling the old gear on commission. Badger Graphics in the US can offer prices that mean that, even with the duty and shipping you will still save money on UK prices.Peter B wrote:Thingy wrote:We did get as far as discussing a possible trade-in, but only in general terms and not in actual figures. I'm using a 45SU and here are my +2-2
+
1) Lightweight + use of 65mm -> 500mm
2) Asymettric tilt - not essential but oh so nice
-
1) Needs 'tweaking' depending on humidity (if tuned for inside/dry, will lock up in the rain)
2) flexing when using 300mm+ lenses (linhof technikardan or arca swissf would be solid).
and finally - having played with a few other cameras, I think the only camera I would replace the 45SU with is the Arca Swiss F Line with micro orbix.. (see Dykinga's book)

Thanks very much Paul and Joanna, ya can't beat an old boat!
Has any one here got or used a Zone IV, they look a bit like a Wista DX but more cute with loads more extension and back focus. There was one floating about in the Bay (e) for a couple of weeks but it's just gone. Are they good and rigid, and do they take linhof lens boards?
Cheers
Sean
