Pembrokeshire locations

Post by Sean Lewis » Wed Jul 21, 2010 8:45 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Hello everybody :D
I'm going to Pembrokeshire next week for a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone here knows the best photographic locations in the area. I have the two OS maps of the north and south, but not having been there before it all looks a bit daunting :? .

Cheers,

Sean

Surely Saint Govans headl coastline is worth a mention.

I've only spent a week there with my family years ago at the end of May, staying near Tenby.

Shot at Manorbier one evening. Then did a pre-dawn start walking out past Barafundle to the cliffs at Stackpole and then stopping at Barafundle on the way back to the car. What the guidebook didn't warn about was the Torville and Dean routine I did slipping around on the wet deposits from the local clifftop cattle.....

It's a fantastic coastline - have fun.

On the Gower Peninsular there's Rhossili Bay & Worms Head, or a little further West there's Marloes Beach

Thanks folks. Saint Govans head certainly is worth mentioning, the chapel there looks very appealing. Barafundle looks good too. Thanks for the warning Baxter, I shall make sure I've got my skates on! The Gower is one of those places thats been on my places to go list for a long time and shall hopefully nip down there for a bit on the way home.
Thanks again,

Sean

I would second Manorbier but would also venture out toward Castlemartin where you are not far away from a sandy bay and also the cliffs approached across the MOD land where you can see the Elegug stacks and the Green Bridge.

This is the Green Bridge (no my shot);

And here are my shots with map locations (first three in set are the South Pembrokeshire coast);

Thanks Nigel, thats great. It looks like that peninsular south of Pembroke has loads to offer. Being at the end of the M4, I might just make that my first stop and explore the area for a few days.

Probably a bit late now (you've probably already headed off to Pembrokeshire) but Marloes Sands is a fantastic area.

Thanks David, indeed I had already gone but I did catch your message in an internet cafe. A very nice place, in fact we spent 4 days there and even managed a couple of dawn raids down on the beach. I particularly liked Raggle Rocks over to the right of the beach, I could spend a month photographing those rocks!
Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I did manage most of them as well as a few days down at Purbeck in Dorset last week. I shot 35 sheets and 2 120 rolls (6x12), so I'm looking forward picking them up this week (via the bank managers office :aww: ).

Cheers, Sean.
