Photographic Possibilities near Scarborough

Post by David Rees » Mon Sep 13, 2010 7:50 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

I decided last night to take a look at the north-east coast of Britain, a place I have never visited, and booked several nights in a hotel in Scarborough. I'll be doing some research to look for possible locations to make images, but suggestions from the community as to where to explore would be welcome.

I'll be there at the beginning of November.

Whitby is very photogenic as is nearby Robin Hoods Bay.
Only been to Scarborough once and thought it a bit of a dive. Didnt stay just rode on through.

Thanks, fourtoes. I'll give them both a once-over.

I don't think I'll be doing much in Scarborough other than sleeping. I found a cheap hotel in the town, which is why I'm located there. I'll be sure not to waste time there!

What I tend to do when I visit somewhere is just do a flickr or google image search and see if anything interesting comes up.
Depends what your into and what you like to shoot I suppose. There may well be loads to shoot in sunny Scarborough.

Hi David

Yes, Whitby has to be on the 'to do' list but you must also check out Saltwick Bay just round the corner. Other suggestions are... Robin Hoods Bay, Filey Beach, Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head. Then there's a wealth of photo opportunities further inland in the North Yorkshire Moors. Mark Denton has produced an excellent book on the Yorkshire coast.

Thanks Paul -- I think 2 days is not going to be enough...wish I had more time before heading on south.

There's always next year, of course...good place for a workshop?
