Victoria, Australia

In November, I spent time in Australia with the in-laws. Andrew Plume suggested I show some pics. I'll start with 10 black and white ones. I'll post 10 colour ones at some later date hopefully. All these were shot on pre-1900 lenses - so Victorian photography in more than one sense of the word. Except where specified, an 8" Petzval bought from Andrew was responsible for all these shots. Film was Adox CHS25 (RIP).

Ballarat is an old gold-rush town with loads of original features, like the staircase in this hotel.

Plenty of new-build in Oz; I like the textures on this 1960's church. Shot with a Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Ser III for contrast and detail.

Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.

Melbourne's architects fill in the sky over these veterans.

If Eggleston can do it, so can I.

Baking heat: the Murray river at Echuca.

Gum forest near Shepparton.

OK, I cheated: this is actually in the upper Hunter Valley, NSW.

Milking it.

Detail of a potted plant. Shot with a Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Ser III - amazingly good for macro.

Feel free to comment - good or bad, always a benefit to learn. Thanks,
Charles
