Elgol

Post by Julian Elliott » Thu Apr 11, 2013 1:10 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Afternoon all

In October, i'm planning a brief visit to Skye for around 3.5 days. One of the places I'd like to have a nosey at is Elgol.

Now, I've been there already but I didn't head for where a certain Mr Cornish went I went down on the headland that faces onto Rum.

Having mentioned JC I was wondering where it was done. I remember going on the beach and saw this huge honeycomb rock just near to the small school. I presume that wasn't the place and that is further on.

Anyone like to confirm that?

Thanks

PS Got a lovely shot of Rum under some great skies!

I can't think of the shot you mean, but the cover of First Light with that round almost canonball-like rock is just a bit further round from the school and that honeycombed rock, facing directly out towards garbh bheinn on the cuillin - its a very well known and popular spot.

Yes, that is the one!

I did wonder if I should have walked further on.

Right, the wait until mid-October begins...

And it looks less round than you might expect from JC's shot (well that was 8 years ago so who knows?).
