I know it's cliched but...

Post by RaglanSurf » Thu Aug 15, 2013 7:25 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

I really want to find the cliched landscape location like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/magdalengreen/5913291925/ or this http://www.flickr.com/photos/boncey/8547908/ preferably a lone tree on top of a gently rolling hill, I don't mind walking to it but don't want a 3 hour hike to get there.

I know it should be simple but I can never find the perfect combination of tree/field/accessibility within easy reach of London. Does anyone have a favoured spot that they wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks

hello 'RS'

take a look at the Savernake Forest area, maybe over towards Pewsey, straight down the MWay from you and a left turn at Swindon. There's also the area around Inkpen a little further south, plenty of stark hills down there etc etc

regards

Thanks Andrew, I know the area but due to my lack of spare time I'm struggling to actually get anywhere to explore, I'd like to find a location preferably within 2 hours drive of London that I can just head to when the weather conditions look right.

I'm sure they're out there, I just can't find them.
