Dunster Archery Week

Post by SteveH » Sat Jun 16, 2007 9:20 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Hi All,

For anyone in the Somerset area, starting tomorrow is Dunster Archery Week, held in the grounds of Dunster Castle near Minehead.

This is the largst archery tournament in the world and is held every day from Sunday to Sunday; all days starting at 10.00 except Wednesday (longbow day) which starts at 13:00).

My wife and I are shooting from Tuesday to Sunday so won't have time to take photos, but the opportunities are good, as the shoot is held in the grounds of the Castle which forms a spectacular backdrop to the shoot, and the area is very photogenic anyway

To photograph the shoot you will need to register at the organisers hut (child protection) but this will not be a problem. If you decide to visit do look me up - I'll be somewhere on the gents line - the organisers (Janet and NIck) will be able to tell you the number. :P

I was hoping to come up from Dartmoor to see the archery but the weather was pretty awful at the time. (and has remained so since) Hope it didn't deter you too much!
Best wishes,
John
