Ironbridge- West Midlands gathering 28th March
A few Worcestershire/Shropshire/Birmingham based LF users are getting together in Ironbridge, Telford on Sunday the 28th of March.
The area's very varied so there's plenty to shoot, I know the area reasonably but we may be joined by a local LF resident. All welcome, there's at least couple of excellent reasonably priced places for lunch or an evening meal and there's an extra hour of light as it's the first day of British Summer Time.
It's bring a camera, and if you want to bring a few prints, but lets say six MAX.
If interested please PM.

Sounds interesting. Last time I was there, there was scaffolding on the bridge. We might just join you

There's now 5 confirmed so far and another 4-5 possibles it's not specifically a "Forum" meet as others are from are from APUG & the Large Format Photography Forum, although most are members here as well.Joanna Carter wrote:Sounds interesting. But great if you want to join us you're more than welcome, and it's not to long a drive from Southport.

Re: Ironbridge- West Midlands gathering 28th March
I was there last year and took a couple of shots from the fishing platforms which are where the classic shots are taken from.
Ironbridge, Shropshire in late evening sun (Ebony RSW on Fuji Velvia 100 Quickload, 270mm lens, 1 sec @ f/32, 0.9 ND)
Best parking is to the south side of the river just yards from the bridge. To get to it go east from Ironbridge town and cross at the new bridge doubling back on yourself. Nice little place but really difficult to isolate the bridge from the town.
Down the river is Coalport and up the river is Buildwas power station nestling in the valley with its red cooling towers and Buildwas monestry which is English heritage I think and so is closed to visitors in the golden hours.
Further to the west is The Wrekin. A hill which dominates the shropshire landscape and makes a fine walk.
Sorry, this one is just a digi - from near the top of The Wrekin (Nikon D70)
I can't make it to the meet but there is plenty of scope for some good pics so I look forward to seeing some good ones on the forum.

Thanks Nigel.
This was my snapshot of my mother and wife stood on the bridge a couple of years ago
Walking boots are to be recommended as the plan is to visit some of the Gorge's lesser known spots

OK, weather Forecast is cloudy but that shouldn't be a problem.
So I suggest 9:30am in the Old Station Car Park, which is the Broseley side of the River right on the eastern side of the bridge itself, bearing in mind the clocks go forward so you lose an hours sleep.

Thanks for arranging this Ian. I'll be there. It will be good to meet some local LFers.IanG wrote:OK, weather Forecast is cloudy but that shouldn't be a problem.

For those with Sat nav the old Station car park is off Ladywood Road.

Successful Ironbridge- West Midlands gathering 28th March
Thanks to the 5 people who attended, we met promptly as planned and had a varied day's shooting, leaving many wanting to return to the area again.

As one of the five who attended I would like to thank Ian for showing us the area. I intend to return a few weeks after easter, so much to see so little time

Thanks for setting this up Ian. Lots of photo-potential in Ironbridge to which I'll also be returning.
I suggest this local get together is a good model for members in other areas of the country. Perhaps some of you already do it. Get to know some nearby LFers without too much travel - and maybe bag some good shots too.
