Mini workshop - Woodchester Mansion (Cotswoldsish area!)

Hot on the heels of the Glencoe Gathering

Anyone interested in a day-long/mini workshop to ...

Woodchester Mansion (approx 15 miles south of Gloucester and 25 miles north of Bristol).

Its a sprawling gothic mansion that is somewhat unique in that it was NEVER FINISHED :o

It's location has preserved it from attack by vandals - no one knew where it was :D as the mansion is at the end of a mile long path with no vehicle access (as far as I can tell) and hidden in woodland.

Interestingly the house was abandoned in the 1870s as builders downed tools and no one ever lived there - its a shell. Reason for builders swift departure ... murder

True! Apparently one of them was murdered on site and the others refused to return

The house opens to the public a few days a year but they will happily arrange for group open days - like the Victoria Baths in Manchester.

If anyone fancies a day out - either a Saturday or Sunday in early January then let me know and I'll try and arrange something.

A link to the site is here www.woodchestermansion.org.uk

AND THEY'VE GOT A TEA SHOP TOO :D

I would be very interested Paul, please add me to your list.

Added later: It seems that this is one of the most haunted places in Britain!

Count me in, sounds very interesting. It's also relatively close to me, at a guess around 90 minutes driving. I'm OK for a Saturday or Sunday as long as it's next year.
