I know the organisers haven't had chance to get their breath back from Glencoe, but I thought I should start the ball rolling with the Spring 2007 workshop. I have put a note up on the website at http://www.lf-photo.org.uk/meetings/meeting5.htm inviting you to suggest ideas. Somewhere south of the M62 would be proper and fair.

Well, it's a bit flat.... but I can certainly scout out some locations here in Norfolk for you, being a born-n-bred carrot cruncher...

Suffolk isn't far either, I'm sure I could find some interesting places for you should you decide to head over this way.

I would second the Norfolk area suggestion. I spent a long weekend there with some friends a while ago, and I got some really nice shots in the broads. 645 unfortunately, so I won't dare showing them here...

Kent is good, Dungeoness - uclear power station and the fishing boats abandoned on the beach, three or four light houses, shingle spits,The white cliffs with a ship wreck at the bottom, lots of bluebells in the woods also the cherry blossom is out all over Kent in the orchards, sand dunes, rivers, ancient ground works, The cinque ports, Rye Harbour, If you were to base it near hastings you also can hit the seven sisters in west sussex too. Lots of locations on your doorstep very good for sun rise and sun set pics too.

Cambridgeshire is very nice, Cambridge itself is very pretty, lots of architecture in the city with the old colleges and churches etc. Also you have the river Cam ( and punts ) as a subject, and the Bridge of Sighs, the Mathmatician's Bridge(?) too. Some cracking pubs around for a bit of grub as well. Also in Cambs is Ely, which is famous for a couple of things, 1) the beautiful ( and pretty camera friendly ) Cathedral which is well worth a visit, and 2) .... Tea Shops.

Audley End House is also pretty close I think. South of the A11 towards the Essex/Suffolk border there's some lovely countryside, quite lumpy for the fens

Cambridgeshire is also a little more "central" than Norfolk or Suffolk for those heading from the West.

Downside is Cambridge is quite expensive.

Just another idea for the melting pot.

Just to be contrary there was a suggestion at the last workshop for South Wales (which is still below the M62 when viewed from up north). Coast and country within easy reach, once the initial journey has been made.

I would be very interested in the South Wales coast, I've seen some wonderful images taken there. Even if we don't visit that area as an official gathering it would be nice if a few of us could get together there sometime in the new year.

I'd also be interested in South Wales. There's a lot there for the LF'er.

As much I as I would welcome you all to Kent I would quite like to go to South Wales.

I wouldn't mind inviting you over here, but maybe it's easier if I go there?

Anyway my hope is that it's at a time when I'm able to attend. And to bring the car over, to save me carrying all the "stuff"...

I am not against going to the land of the Taffies , but one of the reasons for choosing the Norfolk/Suffolk/Essex region was to try and ensure that we get less rainfall/mirk than we have managed to acquire for the last three workshops .

Could we look at Wales for the either the following (Autumn) workshop, or even a mini-workshop in between ?

I would be up for going to Norway, I am a little(!?)biased mind you.
I am hoping to go in May or Sept/Oct next year depending on work etc commitments.

I would be for Wales, though I am not in a position to commit to next week let alone next spring so I am not sure how useful that is':roll:'

Norfolk is a great area, we could all photograph the most photographed windmill at Cley-next-the-Sea! Cley has a tea room, Cooks of Cley, but I believe only open in the summer, but does a very nice B&B throughout the year. I've stayed there a few times. We also have a member in Cley.


For another time, I've always wanted to visit Nash Point and Dunraven Bay, both on Pauls doorstep. Then further along the coast there's the Gower, I've only spent an afternoon there and it looked very interesting.

I reckon the Suffolk/Norfolk coast would be great. Western shores are always popular but lets get the East on the map. Places like Aldeburgh, Southwold etc have fantstic pebble shores, lots of boats and some great buildings. Norfolk broads with its windmills. Most of the towns in East Anglia have beautiful market squares and tall churches
