Ridgeway outing?
I mentioned in another post that I have recently been exploring parts of the Ridgeway and suggested that it could be used an an impromptu day out within the next month or so...
The dates I had in mind were either Sunday 13th or either the Sat or Sun of the 19th/20th November.
Probably start off somewhere near Swindon and visit Wayland's Smithy then on to a wonderful small valley that a friend of mine introduced me to. Pub lunch followed by somewhere else nearby or a brief drive down to Avebury for sunset.
It's probably a 90 minute drive from London and about an hour from the Bristol area
Anyone interested?

I am interested but dont think I can make 20th as my wife has arranged a social event which attendance as chief bottle washer is required.

We're not stuck with the 20th... what about the 13th or 19th?

Could be interested depending on date.
Live not to far away and years since visiting the Waylands Smithy.

Re: Ridgeway outing?
Right, I've taken an executive decision and decided that it'll be Saturday 19th Nov.
The plan will be to meet here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll= ... 18&vpsrc=6 There's plenty of parking on both sides of the road.
It's a short (flat) walk to Wayland's Smithy where we can while away an hour or so. The rest of the walk will be down then up again (but not too strenuous) taking in one of the wonderful dry chalk valleys and some interesting wooded areas.
We can then while away an hour or so over lunch in one of the nearby hostelries.
I suggest then having a vote as to our next location.
Would be good to have some ideas of numbers as I may need to book a table at the pub...

Will you be taking a look at Ashdown House, which is just down the B4000 towards Lambourn? An intriguing house, and the shape of the valley it's in and the boulder-strewn fields in front of it always intrigued me.

Count me in.
What time should we meet up?
Any ideas if the weather is against us?
Perhaps bring some images and have a chat over a nice open fire in the local.
Just a thought.
If anyone going via Salisbury we could do car share.

If anyone's coming out of London on the M4 they could always park at my house (just off J7) and car share with me...

9am? Surely real photographers are on site and set-up an hour before sunrisePaul Mitchell wrote:As we don't want to start off walking in the dark how about meeting at 9am?

Seriously though, 9am sounds good to me.

Hi Paul. I might be able to come too although my camper vans is due for its MOT. If all goes smoothly it'll be ok, I'll have to let you know closer to the time.

Hi Paul,
I'm new to the forum although I've been lurking a while due to lack of time, but would like to add my name to the list if that's ok?
Glenn.
