Photoshop - anyone fancy a workshop?

Post by PAUL O » Sun Jan 28, 2007 9:09 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

As a newcomer to this digital-lark I have hounded Joanna and she has agreed to consider running a workshop on Photoshop/scanning/printing 8)

I wonder how many would be interested in attending such a workshop?

It is more than likely going to be held around the Southport (I hope I've got this right Jo? ) area.

Any takers? Paul

I am quite happy to travel if another location is more "central" to the majority.

How about this for an idea? Quite a few of us here have Photoshop skills, yet I doubt anyone would think they are perfect masters of the beast. It might be of benefit to everyone - hardened user and novice alike - to have a one-day or weekend-long workshop dedicated to digital skills applied to LF. We could share our methods and tips, and exchange recipes and approaches.
If people like the idea, the one problem to overcome is how we would manage to corral several Photoshop-carrying computers. Then we will need to find a large-ish room in which they would fit.

I suppose it would be easier if people had laptops that were more portable (even if you sacrifice some performance / screen quality.)

The person(s) demonstrating to the rest could use a digi projector if one's available and the rest could sing-a-long-an-image if each person was given the same picture via a flash drive etc. The image doesn't need to be anything massive so that each person's pc can number crunch it with moderate performance...

The danger of a group is that it can grow and then you move away from the cosy tutorial to needing a conference room with all the boiling which then becomes a no-no on price etc

Just my 2p...

I could probably volunteer a location in Manchester, capable of handling a number of people, computers, etc. I have some options in Halls of Residence, as some here do know.
And if I can convince my fearless leader, I might even be able to liberate a digital projector for the day...
