Hi all, the pub is called The Old House At Home on Cakeham Road. I think it would be best to just find a parking space on the road nearby and meet on the lane opposite the pub. I'll be up for a dawn patrol on the 27th if anyone else is.

Hi John,
Not quite sure whats happening with the rest of the guys, whether it's re scheduled or not. If nobody can make it tomorrow maybe it would be good to meet up on one of the September dates which are both fine with me. If tomorrow is on, the sun rises at 5.20am and the beach is a half ann hour walk from the pub. So 4.30 at least...., ouch!

I've been umming and aahing about going as I've had a crap cold this week and was waiting to see how I felt. I also don't think that Glenn is coming. It has also forecast rain from 9am onwards so perhaps deferring it until Sept might be a good idea. Dawn will be at a more respectable time too!

Paul's reply makes sense. I've been watching weather forecast which is not good. It is a 1.5 hour drive for me so I will leave it till Sept. Sorry. John

Hi Paul,
You poor old thing you, hope you're doing well apart from that. I think September is probably best, also for the reason that if the weather was nice tomorrow it wouldn't be long before the beach revelers arrived in their droves. Both dates in September are good for me, I'll leave it for you folks to decide.
John, you can have a lay-in tomorrow now :)

Hi all,

As Paul has said and I'm now confirming I'm unable to make it tomorrow so I also think a deferment till September is good and I can also make those dates :)

It's a bit of a shame as I have a new (to me) toy to play with but I'll have to find some other subjects closer to home :)

Sean, are there any good out of the way spots around West Wittering to park a camper van?

I don't know anywhere off hand but West Wittering is pretty small and there'll be plenty of places if you just rock up and look around. The peninsular that the Witterings are on has got ample laybys and car parks about.

It was pencilled in that our next meet up at West Wittering was going to be this coming Saturday (14th Sept), unfortunately I've double booked and will not be able to make it I'm afraid.

I did go a few weeks ago on my own and made the following notes:

• The main gates to the estate open about 6.30am for dog walkers. If you arrive before then you have to park in the village and walk the mile or so to the beach.

• You cannot park outside the pub anymore as they've painted double yellows everywhere. There is some non restricted parking just a hundred yards back up into the village.

* East Head is probably the best place to get some dawn shots. The sand dunes are criss crossed with boardwalks which can add foreground interest. Allow at least 20 minutes to walk to East Head.

• After about 7am the place is busy with dog walkers and joggers

• Apart from the dunes there's plenty of old groynes, some even have pebbles stuck in various crevices which makes for some detail shots. There's also hundreds of beach huts!

• The café opens about 9am for a welcome cuppa and bacon bap.

Sorry I can't make it this time. I do plan a winter visit though, will keep you posted.

Paul

Apologies for the digi snaps but they should give you an idea of what's there for those who haven't been before.

Hi All...

Space for two more? :)

Also, is there a specific time and location for the meet? Would it be possible to confirm the day as well? Knowing my luck, I'll rock up on the wrong day!

Hi all,

Sorry, I'm going to have to cancel as well. Just got back from Italy to find I've also been double booked.
I'm quite happy to reschedule if any body else is? The weekend after next is good for me as I'm pretty much back to normal after a busy old summer.
Excellent pictures Paul, especially the last one of the groyne detail!
