It is getting towards that time of the year when photographers thoughts turn to autumn, colours, mists and rain. There was talk of the autumn workshop being somewhere down south/south east this year. Are we any further forward with a location and suggested dates for our twice yearly get together? I notice diary's seem to be filling up and we will need to get accommodation booked if we all want to be together

It seems to have gone quiet over actual venues / times etc but I think certain people may be going gooey and wondering if they can sneak over to the French week-long bash...

The 2007 Autumn Workshop is in desperate need of an organiser

I appreciate that the discussion at previous workshops has suggested a workshop "down south" but things seemed to have run out of steam a little on this count?

As September is rapidly approaching and no location has been planned I am putting forward a suggestion for an alternative to a "south of the country" workshop - the Peak District.

The reason I'm putting this forward as a possible location is that it is fairly centrally placed in the UK and, more importantly (?) it will mean that the chances of a "guaranteed" turnout is most likely - the "workshop regulars" would more than likely make this location. I appreciate that some may be "put out" at having to travel so far north/south but we will never please everyone :?

Can I gauge interest in such a workshop? Date to be fixed but I am suggesting the weekend Friday 26 to Sunday 28 October or Friday 2 to Sunday 4 November?

The idea would be to base ourselves in one hotel (as we did at Glencoe).

Any takers?

Paul, I'd love to spend more time in the Peak District. It's only a 2.5 hour daytime run from here. I've only ever visited Padley Gorge a few times, the area above where the old mill stones lay abandoned, and nearby Curbar Edge. It'll be nice getting out and about again, as I'm now very busy getting prints ready for a local exhibition, then I take it down on the 20th October. Either of the 2 proposed dates would be OK with me. My concern is can we find a suitable hotel in the area with enough free rooms in time. Count me in.

I would be interested in the Peak district. I was thinking of having an autumn trip there anyway.

I'm certainly up for a meet. Not really bothered where but the Peak District sounds fine. Flexible on dates too.

I would be happy with the Peak district and can manage the 26th October or the following week. I will be in Scotland in the middle of October. For the week starting the 8th October I will be at the Kings House in Glencoe and for the following week in Upper Torridon. If anyone is interested in joining me or dropping in I would be please to see them.

Hi. I've spent a few hours searching for hotels in Peak District but not having much luck with vacancies AND I've just noticed that the proposed dates clash with Steve H's planned get together in the Cotswolds too

I propose to put a temporary hold on further research for the Peak District until a) there is a date for the Cotswolds, b) I can speak with Quentin regarding his plans for East Anglia.

However, I feel that time is of the essence if an Autumn get together is going to take place at all.

Another thought - It may be easier if the Cotswolds get together develops into the Autumn Workshop? Steve has done agrand job of hunting locations, we would just need to find a hotel to accommodate the group?

I will keep you posted

If Quentin was to do a workshop in East Anglia, may I suggest some focus on scanning, seeing as he has quite some knowledge in that field? I for one would appreciate the chance to learn some more about this tricky subject.
Just an idea of course.

Regarding the Peak district, I would probarbly be able to make the 26th to 28th, seeing as thats half term (I think), otherwise a Friday is off as far as I'm concerned :(.

Hi All,

Just remember that the Cotswold day out was intended as just that - a day out. The Autumn Workshop should take precedence in plans; if you want to turn the Cotswold day out into an Autumn gathering let me know and we can work something out.
