Paul, count me in for Saturday 26th. I'll be driving up to get there around 9.30am. Looking at the baths area on Multimap the area looks residential, can anyone who knows Manchester confirm? Just thinking about ease of parking nearby. I'd love to stay north and visit other interesting places on the Sunday, but I need to be back home Saturday night, have to take my daughter a few places on the Sunday, then back to Bristol.

Hathersage Road is less than 10 min in the car. Too far to go on foot, though!

I seem to recall that parking wasn't that brilliant, but I will do a driveby recon and check on my way to work tomorrow.

I'll book the room on Monday. Any more takers?

Thanks Marc. Knowing roughly what the parking is like helps me decide what time to arrive.

I'll also bring along the right angle viewer for your Wista, the one I promised you back at the Somerset workshop. I only found it in a tidy up last week.

Hi Paul,

Put me down for two places on the Saturday - we're coming from t'other side of t'hill that morning so won't need accomodation (unless passport control holds us up on the border  )

As far as parking is concerned I am 99.9% sure that we can park in the United Utilities carpark opposite - they allow this for visitors to the Baths (sort of doing their bit for the project/community). I will check with the Project and report back when I get a reply.

You're a bit too close to Liverpool for comfort. I think we give you a community support officer as an escort, just in case.
Wouldn't want the baths disappearing on us now, would we...

Will Mark be the second person? And will he be bringing that D****** thing again?

Hi Paul,

Put me down for 2 people on Saturday! It's about a 3 hour drive for me so I'll just be there for the day - should arrive around 10am. How many are confirmed so far?

Cheers,
Simon

Would give the wifes right arm to come but unfortunately she works on a Saturday and I have to babysit the little darlings. :(
I'll try and make a plan in the next couple of days. Is the deadline for signup still tomorrow?

Hi (lee) et al. The "deadline" is fairly relaxed (as usual) so even if its a last minute decision it's not a problem! I think there's about 10 of us confirmed so far! Regards Paul O

Okay - final (sort of!) confirmation as I need to let the Baths know numbers! There are 10 of us (so far) so I suggest we all meet at the Victoria Baths between 0915 and 0930 hrs. We will be met on site by a member of the Project staff who will give us a quick Health & Safety briefing and a quick familiarisation tour of the building. We will then be left to our own devices until around 4.30pm. There will be a security officer on site whilst we are there. There is a "hot/boiling water" facility so I will bring coffee, tea-bags, milk, sugar and some biccies (might start up my own tea shop!). There are shops nearby if anyone wants to pop out for lunch - I will bring packed lunch to allow maximum use of time allowed on site! My mobile number (yes I finally got one -XXXXXXXXXX). Any questions email me but if not See you on Saturday!
Paul

[NOTE: Paul, I blanked your mobile number for safety purposes. I recommend PM'ing it to everyone who has agreed to come. If you disagree, feel free to re-edit this.

Paul,
Your tea-shop could be the first perfect tea-shop, which actually has glass plates, chemicals, dark room and all Vic cons. Might not have time to take your own pictures if you get too good though. Think it over.

Hi Charles - I was thinking more of a mobile tea-trolley!!

If anyone is interested ... the charge being made to each of us can be GIFT AIDED. All you need to do is to sign a form at the Baths and they can benefit from extra tax relief.

I think the easiest way of dealing with payment on the day is for everyone to pay for themselves when we get there. I have suggested a contribution of between £15 and £20 each - I will leave the final choice down to each of you

Would love to have come along but can't get a babysitter to look after my tiny tearaways.

Second date possible?

Post by Richard Fenner » Wed Aug 23, 2006 11:50 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Like a few others, I can't make this weekend - August Bank holidays tend to get booked up in advance. Are there enough people for a second date to be possible? Would the Baths be willing? I'd like to come, even with a three hour drive!
