2 down the river

Its amazing how light changes so fast. The shot of the bridge was taken 1st & as i looked right the view was so tranquil it was unbelievable, I walked down to the timbers rising out of the water to set up for the second shot.

Both images were taken within 20 minutes of each other, What luck!

15 minutes after the second shot the mist came in and spoilt everything

It is a striking difference between the two. I like them both but wonder if a grad might have got more detail in the forground of the first one. I like the arrangement and colours in the second one but the boat on the left is too near the edge of the frame for me. Everything leads the eye in that direction and although its good to have a "stopper" there, it needs to be a little less dominant. That having been said, it looks like you may have had lighting and viewpoint constraints so the capture of the scene is has been well executed.

I agree with Nigel but I can't help thinking that the second image might not have been better off as a vertical shot with the line of boats running right across the frame. The picture is very left-dominant and there is little of interest on the RHS. I love the reflections and tranquil atmosphere, though.

Hi Nigels & Joolsb,

Thanks for your comments of which i entirely agree, the problem i faced in the second shot was that the sun was rising fast on the left hand side & had i included it, it would have bleached out that side of the scene & upset the balance, it was a simply case of get the shot the best you can in the time available or loose it completely, this is the outcome.

i could crop the shot to vertical in photo shop, but i prefer to get the shot in the bag 1st time round, its all a learning curve!
