Post by Chong » Sat Jul 29, 2006 2:39 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Hello all,
This was taken during the 2nd workshop at Northumberland. This was taken on 4x10 format with a modified 8x10 DDS.

Nice, my sort of thing. I like the color and dark feel, I would love to see the slide or print as the scan here is a bit soft. Any chance of a link to a larger image?
As an aside is the "conversion" a cut slide, and if so how do you find it?
I would really like an 8x10 for contact printing and the option to use for panoramics would be great.

Hi Gari,
Yes, it is a chopped up dark slide like this one:-

Image

I had a damaged dark slide which I made full use of. It is a pain to use in the field because you have to compose the scene on the top half, take your picture (and must remember which half has been exposed), then recomposed to the bottom and expose the the other half of the film. When you get it right the result is awesome. The small Jpeg files do not do justice here. The originals are a lot better when viewed on light box.

Yeh I bet. I am on the verge of ordering an 8x10 and the Bender kit is one I am thinking of. Christopher Burkett has a 10x4 Gallery and I wonder if he does this, as he shoots 10x8 already. Not sure if the link problem is my end or not, as there are very few views so far I guess I shall have to wait to find out!
Nice work with what I have seen so far anyhows.

Very Nice Chong, I love the geology aspect of this and the contrast of colours and texture you have captured. As Gari has said i would love to see it in a larger link/ aspect.

I know Craster Harbour well and being new to photography didnt realise its potential to produce the kind of image you have produced. I will look at it in a different light next time i'm up there. Thanks.

Richie,
Glad this shot did something for you. The original file is nearly 1gig, yes 1gig! and is way too big to post on any websites. The 4x10 transparency is awesome when view on a light box. So much more details and textures than what you could, unfortunately, view on the small jpeg file.
