hiya

took a few shots in my local park today (Crystal Palace) when i came across this beast!

Image

Megalosaurus, a giant and visually impressive even by today's standards, the Megalosaurus became one of the park's three 'mascot dinosaurs' along with the Iguanodon and (less so) the Ichthyosaurs. Yet it is arguably the most inaccurate of all of Hawkins's models, depicted as a quadruped that looks like an elephant with a lizard's head and paws.

Nice image, but as a beast it wouldn't work unless it spent most of it's time in the water. The back legs are machnically wrong for a beast of that size, the knee joints would snap under the pressure of the weight. Should have elephant type back legs.

Sorry about the non photographic reply.

Rob.

Just as well there is a lake behind the trees 8)

I live not so far away from the park - Are the dinosaurs accessible for photography? I though they were fenced off when the park was recently refurbished.

it was shot peeping over the fence with the pool in front. not sure if you could get on the island, i reckon you'd need a boat.
