SOLD Fujinon 240mm A in Copal 0

Anything to sell (WTS) or looking for anything specific (WTB)? Anything advertised on this forum comes with the usual "buyer beware" advice; it is up to the purchaser to assure themselves of the integrity of the supplier and item being sold. It is also the responsibility of the seller to ensure that payment is forthcoming before parting with said item.

SOLD Fujinon 240mm A in Copal 0

Post by David Rees » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:33 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Moving house shortly -- and having sold some film, my thoughts turned to my lens collection. I do have too many. I'll be selling some of the surplus ones in the next few days.

I bought this lens because I love using a 120mm lens on 5x4, and I was hoping to pick up an 10x8 camera. Never did, though, so this lens never got a lot of use. The images I took with it were good, it's just that I don't need this focal length on 5x4 very often.

It is a used lens, so it's not mint, but I think the condition is at the least very good -- hopefully the photos make that clear. Note that marks on the lens are minor specks of dust from the air, which attached after I gave the lens a blow-over with a large squeezable air-blower.

I have tried all the shutter speeds today, and to my ear, they sound fine. The aperture scales are in place and correct, the aperture itself works correctly, and the controls on the lens work as they should.

The specifications of this lens are as follows:
  • Focal length: 240mm
  • Widest aperture: f9.0
  • Smallest aperture: f64
  • Front filter size: 52mm
  • Image circle @f22: 336mm (big enough for 10x8)

I'm looking for £425 for this lens, plus £10 insured P&P to the UK. I also have a mint Linhof-Technika style plate, Copal 0, size, which I can include for a further £15 -- photos of plate supplied upon request. Bank transfer or cheque works best for me.

Apart from film, I don't think I've ever sold anything on this site, and many of you won't know me; however, I use the name david_p_rees on ebay, and have a 100% rating there, built up over 100s of transactions going back more than 5 years.

I'm happy to offer a 14 day return option, to allow you to make sure the lens is as I say it is.

Any questions, PM away!

Additionsl info: original front and rear lens caps are included -- simply not shown in the photos.

I just have to add that this lens is a stunner. Two major factors make it appealing. First it has extra coverage even on 10x8 - on 5x4 you're limited only by your camera, great for perspective control (place the center of the lens anywhere in the picture). Secondly it's optimised for nearfield and so work really well for close up work.

Finally - on 10x8 this is a pleasure to use - it may not be the brightest 240ish lens but it's very small, very light and very sharp..

I'll never get rid of mine..

Tim
Waiting for the developing bill - 2 hours (and it's so small now!)

Although he doesn't need it, I can vouch for David: you can buy with confidence.

Tim and Charles,

Thank you both for your kind and helpful comments.

I do feel quite reluctant to get rid of this lens -- just in case a 10x8 camera passes my way one day. But I'm going to be limited in space in the new house, so a 10x8 is not going to be realistic...so head wins over heart!

If anyone is interested in this lens, but the price is wrong, I'm willing to entertain offers. Just drop me a PM.
