I have a Silvesrti 6x that I bought for about £60 from Teamwork. It's quite good viewing wise (I'd say not far off the Schneider 6x loupes which are about twice as much), and feels solid (more solid than the Schneiders, but a bit heavier too).

Not sure if I'd buy the same again if I lost or broke it though!6 or 7 out of 10 I'd rate it!

I have just listed a horseman 4x on ebay. I have 2 of them and prefer them to the schneider as the let in a lot more light.

I use the loupe i used to use for viewing 35mm slides. You see them branded as Ohnar, Jessops, TWD etc. Optically excellent but pretty cheap. I think i got mine from ebay for about £15. Here is the teamword version:

I don't see the point personally in using big money slide loupes for focussing. Sods law states you'll only lose/break it.
