I recently bought an old Arca Swiss 5x7, which came with a monster of a lens, a Schneider Symmar 360mm f5.6. This beauty has an image circle of 500mm, and hence covers 11x14 - lots of movement on 10x8: see http://www.schneideroptics.com/info/vin ... 360mm.html. The downside is that it will not fit in Copal 3, apparently*, and thus comes with a Compur Electronic shutter. Some people swear by these, but obviously it is more complicated and heavier than a purely mechanical shutter. If you might have an interest in such a thing, please drop me a line: I would typically be shooting with lenses in the 150-300mm range so don't really have a use for the 360, especially as I'm only a beginner at weight lifting. The lens is in great shape, but I have not tested the shutter.
David.
* I understand that you can fit it, but that reduces the maximum aperture from f5.6 to f6.8, which does not sound like a big deal to me. I have not tried this however.

Re: Interest check - Symmar 360 f5.6 in Compur electronic
Get behind me Satin
If I remember correctly the FS5 shutter has an external control box which controls the speed and apature ??? I borrowed one many yeras ago and I think it had a 240mm fitted. I would love a 360mm lens but have nothing suitable to swap as I use the Sinar copal shutter and therefor my lens's are shutterless. I do however have the front and rear componants of a 210mm Rodagon that you may be able to adapt in the FS5 shutter???
Good luck with your search
Cheers Dave

I never wear Satin, not even on Sundays...
You are indeed right Dave - the FS5 comes with a control box. I have two of them. Why there are two is completely beyond me, but that is what I have, together with a considerable spaghetti dinner of wiring. Happy to talk cash rather than a swap if that suits you - drop me a message if you are interested.
Cheers
