New and unused Copal no 0 shutter, boxed, complete with instruction leaflet. I bought it to replace a slightly older shutter that I thought had fired it's last, but as it turned out it was a simple fix, so I'm selling this new one. £185 less vat at Robert Whites. I'm hoping for £100 all in.

Jenny, you bought my Fujinon 125 from the USA forum, right?

Yes I did and a lovely little lens it is - small, light and tack sharp. A keeper for sure! But the shutter is a bit of a fiddle with the shutter speeds hard to see on the top of the lens, and the slower speeds are sticking badly. I was going to have the shutter CLA'd but with the difficult location of shutter dial I thought I would give her this new shutter instead. The next question is where to find an appropriate aperture scale since I don't think the old scale will fit the new shutter. It's the first time I have considered the fact that different lenses use different aperture scales although it makes perfect sense....

Anyone know where I can check the aperture scale for a 125mm Fujinon NW? Is it the same as say a 120mm Schneider APO symmar?

The second shutter is sticky? I had that shutter CLA'd about six months before I sent it to you. I'm sorry, Jenny.

You were extremely decent changing the shutter, and I appreciated it. I didn't realise you had had it CLA'd. It's just too bad it's not feeling well. But I've taken some shots I'm really pleased with using a manual exposure. It's great glass and I hope to keep it for a long time. So I may as well sort out a long term solution for the shutter....

I don't know much about this but I am learning as I go along.

My understanding is that CLA stands for 'clean, lubricate and adjust' and shutters that are inaccurate, sticky or damaged can be made fully functional after a CLA by someone who knows what they are doing. It's probably more of an issue if the lenses you use are in older shutters. Gari recommended a company called 'Black on White' in Bristol but I have never used them. How accurate you want your shutter speeds to be depends on how critical your exposure is. Some people say within 1/10th or 1/20th of the correct shutter speed. I use mainly colour transparency film with 4-5 stops of latitude, so it is important to me for my exposures to be pretty accurate. If you shoot mainly black and white, it is probably less critical. Having said that I have never formally tested a shutter myself, but I'm pretty sure it can be done at home with the correct piece of equipment.

There are many more experienced people on the forum who could add much more.
