If anyone in UK (pref southerly!) comes across a really nice Sanderson or Gandolfi in a size larger than 10 x 8 do let me know. I rather hanker after a 12 x 10, or possibly 11 x 14, but must have a lens or two & some working film holders. Failing this how about a near mint 10 x 8 metal Canham? Any comments on the latter? Thanks. Dennis

Just for a moment there, I thought I saw an opportunity to sell my 30x40cm (16x12") Russian camera...

"Great" is an apt choise of word in this context, I think...

I have the Great Big Russian 30x40cm, an Original German Reisekamera in 24x30cm, another Original German Reisekamera in 13x18cm, and a (presumably German, as well) "Englische Type" Reisekamera in 18x24cm.

A very quick test showed me that the 24x30cm one is the optimum balance between size and weight, at least as far as I'm concerned: At the top of the hill where I live is a great view over five fjords, four bridges and three islands. It's less than 100 meters from my front door, but it's all steep uphill... Anyway I've had the 24x30 up there three times this summer, and on two occasions I decided against taking a picture. I had the 30x40cm up there once, and took a picture even if it didn't look like it was worth it. Just "since I'd hauled that thing up there, I'd better get a picture"!

So by the simple criterion of "worth carrying back another day", the 24x30cm is the camera for me. Which means a "surplus" 30x40cm camera.
