Hello everyone

I am looking to buy a Toyo Field 45AII or 45A in any condition (from "user" to "mint") as my first venture into LF. Please contact me if you have something suitable and save yourself the extortionate Ebay fees! I am also looking for a 150mm lens for this camera.

I have a Toyo 4x5 Field (which I was intending selling shortly) but it's not the model that you're after having less movements - it does however convert to a 5x7 - I have both backs - this is a fairly rare camera - the 4x5 back c/w a fresnel - it has one lens board only a Copal One form memory, it's in very good condition indeed and is very sturdy - it's a great starter camera without too many movements to lose sight of, it does however have the benefit of being able to use 5x7 which is a very good feature, the bellows are very good too

You also mentioned a 150mm lens, well I have a Rodenstock f/s on this forum - the good thing about this one is that it covers up to 5x7

Well you missed out on the Super Graphic In snapped up here 2 weeks ago, essentially the forerunner of the Toyo

Toyo bought the tooling from Graflex when they closed down.

But isn't the Super Graphic a little heavier? There are 2 Toyo's on Ebay at the moment. One a bit of a beater for close to £700 including shipping from Japan - expensive IMHO. The other is a 45a in the UK but I think the bellows will need replacing and that is on for ~£400.

The Super Graphic may be a touch heavier but it has a range-finder, I have to refurbish mine but it's not hard. In practice it seems no heavier than my Wista or Crown Graphic.

I've seen Toyo 45A's selling for less than $200 with no lens in the past 6 months, you'd have more chance on the US Large format forum as they were never as common in the UK, but plentiful in the US.

I think the Toyo will be solid but not brick-like. I want the revolving back hence the 45AII.

fair enough...in the meantime though are you able to shoot?
Something like Martin's Zone IV could make a very solid and well priced option to get you shooting whilst you look for the specific toyo you want.
