Hi,

I have used my cf Gitzo 1227mk2 for many years and love its combination of strength, stability and light weight.
My new project involves lots of shooting in windy conditions so I'm looking for a heavier and thus more stable tripod for these conditions specifically.
Of course there will be extra weight but that is fine.
Ability to accept spiked feet an added bonus.
Needs to be simple 3 leg construction without struts.

Cosmetic condition is unimportant but full functionality is...so I guess something like an old beaten up aluminium gitzo sitting round in your cupboard / studio would be ideal.

I am not looking to trade but to have this in addition.

Mine is not for sale,
but sounds like you might want to take a look at the manfrotto 161. Really stable (supports an 8x10 no problem), goes up high, and pretty heavy too.

I have a Gitzo 2227 (explorer, CF, 3 leg section) sitting unused in my cupboard - I've used it successfully for 5X4. Not sure if it fits your needs, but e-mail me at Henry@jhdove.demon.co.uk if you're interested. It cost about £400 when new, but I'm open to reasonable offers! And a heavy Benbo Mk 2 with no head - just seen it's a car you'll be putting it in - too heavy to carry far!

I'll keep an eye out for one of those...basically just need a big heavy tripod to keep in the boot when I go to locations in case the wind is rally strong there.

Ah... Well the 161 has braces too.

Maybe an old gitzo studio would fit the bill better then.
