5x7 film issue now resolved, thanks to Gari!

Anything to sell (WTS) or looking for anything specific (WTB)? Anything advertised on this forum comes with the usual "buyer beware" advice; it is up to the purchaser to assure themselves of the integrity of the supplier and item being sold. It is also the responsibility of the seller to ensure that payment is forthcoming before parting with said item.

5x7 film issue now resolved, thanks to Gari!

Post by Peter B » Sun Nov 28, 2010 10:31 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Hi All

I've got a wholeplate camera with a halfplate back, but both sizes of film are a bit scarce nowadays and pretty expensive on the Ilford annual run. I believe that I might be able to use 5x7 filmholders in the halfplate back and have a couple of these to try out. I'm needing some film to go with them, but I'm not looking to go for anything like Paul O's box of 100 sheets (sorry Paul!). I'm thinking of getting a box of Shanghai iso 100 from Taiwan (£19 inc postage), but I thought I'd post here just in case anyone has any 5x7 mono tucked away in a corner? It's very much for trial purposes, so part boxes and out of date film would still be of interest.

Many thanks, Peter

Re: WTB: 5x7 B&W film Now WTS!

OK, so in the absence of any replies to the WTB, I went ahead and ordered from Mr Chen in Taiwan and the nice postman delivered it today, some 9 working days later at a cost of £6 airmail to Inverness(please note those who charge extra for delivery to the Highlands!). Problem is, I dug out my 5x7 filmholders in preparation and found to my horror they were actually 13x18. :'( :$

I'll be stashing the film in the fridge over the festive period, but if any of you have ever wanted to try Shanghai 5x7 film, I'll not be hard to deal with .........

.......... and if you had a couple of 5x7 holders to swap for them we would be in business. :) Unfortunately, unless I can get a decent deal on a couple of 5x7 holders I'd be better off buying a box of 13x18 film and shooting it. I think I'll leave this one for the moment, but if I decide to sell the holders I'll PM you. They are normal Fidelity DDS holders though, so they wouldn't do as plate holders unless I'm mistaking what you said?

Thanks, Peter

Peter, where abouts are you? I have some old 5x7 holders that came with a Kodak 5x7 I bought a few years ago. I have never used them as I have a nice set of Fidelity H/P holders. They are pretty ugly but they look light tight, that said I have never shot with 'em so can't be entirely sure.
I am happy to post them to you, but considering the postal system here at the moment you could come get 'em, depending on where you are of course. I am in Inveraray for the winter, rather than Oban fyi. pictures if you want some, can be arranged.

Regards
Gari

Hi Gari

I'm in Inverness and not likely to be in Inveraray anytime soon, or even Oban for that matter. I'm certainly interested in your holders if you think they are light-tight, but no immediate hurry to involve them in the Christmas chaos! You can PM me a price if you want to?

Thanks, Peter
